For the most part my work either relates to renowned and iconic artworks or refers to art movements in general. More precisely this involves dissecting a specific "subject" and contextually re-appropriating key elements or characteristics to add something new and different to the already familiar.
The outcome of this process can be an economic and pared-down aesthetic, a simplification, although not necessarily making simple.
My reliance on pre-existing source material is both a bugbear yet contradictorily liberating. It could be said for that reason, that my practice is a kind of continuous artistic inferiority complex, and my response to offset this is to resort to self-effacing wit and humour.
My work ultimately attempts to transport the cutting edge to the comic fringe.
